Dramatic Final Weeks of College Football Ahead:

With surprise teams in contention, surprise teams failing to be, and with coaches facing the fire down the stretch, the final weeks of college football will give everyone that likes to bet on sports plenty of excitement and challenges.

There has been no bigger surprise than coach Dabo Swinney’s Clemson Tigers of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Swinney barely avoided the firing squad last December and revamped his staff while also making huge inroads in recruiting. The result is a guaranteed berth in the ACC Championship Game and an outside shot at the BCS title game. The Tigers, however, face a potential trap game on Saturday at NC State.

Nebraska is coming off a big win at Penn State in the emotionally charged atmosphere of the child abuse scandal and firing of Joe Paterno. The Big Red has a major must win game at Michigan on Saturday in their quest to make the Big Ten Championship Game in their first season in the league. Michigan won’t make it easy however as they are vastly improved under new coach Brady Hoke.

In the Big 12, Oklahoma faces a huge potential trap game at Baylor as they must win out for their final regular season game of “Bedlam” at Oklahoma State which will likely be for the Big 12 title and a possible shot for the BCS title game itself.

Speaking of traps, the Southeastern Conference will have a major one on the day after Thanksgiving when #1 LSU hosts #6 Arkansas, a team that has given the top ranked Tigers problems through the years. An Arkansas win in this one would completely discombobulate the BCS standings with a loaded lineup of one-loss teams in the mix. Should Oklahoma also defeat Oklahoma State the next day the BCS computers may suffer a meltdown.

Kansas State has a tough road assignment at Texas after their stunning four-overtime win over Texas A&M while Texas is coming off a terrible flat loss at Missouri.

Oregon should not get too happy about their big win at Stanford last week as they will host a talented USC team that seems to be peaking at just the right time. Oregon is 9-1 and ranked 4th in the nation and has an X-Box type of offense but USC has a Heisman candidate in QB Matt Barkley, a NFL bound signal caller that can keep them in any game that they play.

It should be an exciting time in college football over the next few weeks and those who bet on sports are ready for the action.

Although shrouded in controversy, there will be football played today at Beaver Stadium when Penn State hosts Nebraska at 12:00PM ET.

Following the shocking allegations against former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, long-time Nittany Lions head coach Joe Paterno was fired earlier this week. And since then, the line in this game has gone from 2.5 to 3.5 as the Lions find themselves as an underdog in their own stadium.

Nebraska has won 10 of the last 11 games when playing as a road favorite and has also won eight of the last nine games coming off an upset loss when playing as a double-digit favorite. The Huskers have won five consecutive road games when the total posted is between 42.5 and 45 points and are averaging over 34 points a game on offense this season.
