There they go again

Patty Summitt won her 800th career women's college basketball game on Tuesday night.

If you could see me right now, you would see a big yawn.

This is not to take anything away from her accomplishment, but the way ESPN went overboard in showing this and discussing it ad nausea was enough to make me sick. They couldn't just show highlights of this on SportsCenter -- they actually left a competitive Michigan State-Purdue game that had just over three minutes left to go to the Tennessee-DePaul women's game so that we could pay homage to Pat Summitt. I can only imagine the reaction from those who wagered on the MSU-Purdue game or for the fans of either of those schools.

If that's not bad enough, I went to ESPN.com and found some ridiculous columns in which they compared Patsy to Dean Smith, John Wooden and Bobby Knight.

They also had a top-10 listing of the all-time winningest coaches in college basketball.

At the top, of course, is Dean Smith with 879 victories. Patsy comes in at #6 with 800 wins. What struck me, though, were the gentlemen in the number three and five slots. Clarence Gaines from Winston-Salem has 828 wins and Jerry Johnson from LeMoyne-Owen has 806 wins. However, there were asterisks next to their names noting that they were Division II coaches.

Was there an asterisk next to Summitt's name? Of course not.

With all due respect to female athletics, putting Summitt's name on that list is like putting a little league baseball manager on the all-time wins list with the likes of Connie Mack and Sparky Anderson.

It's laughable. It's a disgrace. It's an insult.

For ESPN to leave coverage of a decent game that had only three minutes left was yet another example of the politically-correct thugs who are now in charge of every aspect of our society.

"Big Brother" is not some evil government conspiracy. Instead, it's the politically correct crowd. They tell us what clubs we can join, what sports we should cover, what accomplishments are important, what we should say…if we cross them, they use names like racist, sexist, homophobe…they don't argue because they would lose, so they call us these sick names and take the argument right off the table. It's evil, but it's genius.

I am here to say I, for one, will not stand for this.

I believe women's college basketball should not even be compared to men's.

I believe that if I want to join an all-male club, I should be allowed to without hearing complaints about it.

I don't think being gay is heroic.

I don't look at the color of the coach of my favorite football team. I look at his record.

I don't believe in quotas ON the field or OFF it.

I believe Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Johnnie Cochran have done more to hurt their communities than help them.

I actually believe that men and women are different, not only physically, but mentally.

I believe Title IX hurts male wrestlers and swimmers more than it helps female athletes.

I don't believe in hyphens before the word "American."

I believe Ronald Reagan is the greatest President ever.

I believe Bill Clinton is a self-centered piece of garbage.

I absolutely despise the following, in no particular order: France, O.J. Simpson, the Baldwin brothers, Jane Fonda, Barbra Streisand and Michael Moore.

Last but not least, I love dodgeball.

To put Patty Summitt up there with some of the great men's college coaches is a joke.

For those of you out there who are really mad at me now, I have one thing to say.

Deal with it.
