Her career didn’t really start to take off until 2005, when she was cast as Izzie Stevens on ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” but Katherine Heigl has been, ahem, capturing the imaginations of discerning babehounds for many years. In fact, when she joined the cast of the WB’s “Roswell,” the combination of Heigl’s tremendous natural assets and the show’s sci-fi roots threatened to do more for the sexual awakenings of lonely nerds than anything since Carrie Fisher’s wire bikini in “Return of the Jedi.”
2007 saw Heigl beginning her campaign for big-screen domination with a role in Judd Apatow’s “Knocked Up.” The movie’s overwhelmingly positive reviews and sure-to-be-impressive theatrical gross should be enough to wipe away unpleasant memories of the days when Heigl was forced to play opposite the likes of Steven Seagal and Johnny Knoxville. And just in case it all goes wrong, there’s always that “Grey’s Anatomy” thing to fall back on.
Iconic Character – Dr. Isobel “Izzy” Stevens on “Grey’s Anatomy”
For many fans, Katherine’s role as Izzy on “Grey’s Anatomy” will always be a favorite. We highlighted this character in our “TV Girlfriends” feature in the “Coworkers With Benefits” catagory. Here’s what we said about the character:
“On paper, Dr. Izzie Stevens sounds like a train wreck. She was born in a trailer park, has a child that she gave up for adoption, and isn’t exactly the luckiest gal when it comes to dating. During her short time at Seattle Grace Hospital, Izzie has fallen in love with a patient (only to kill him in an attempt to save his life), had sex with the ghost of said patient, and broken up the marriage of her best friend. Then again, she’s also one of the hottest doctors we’ve ever seen and can bake a mean batch of cookies. So, you know, she’s got that going for her.”

Katherine on the Screen
Katherine doesn’t have too many memorable roles to her name as of yet, but she’s slowly emerging as one of the few It Girls with actual promise. Along with parts in a slew of bad films like “Bride of Chucky” and the much-publicized “Zyzzyx Road,” Katherine also appeared as a series regular on the teen sci-drama “Roswell” before eventually earning a spot on ratings monster “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Katherine Says
On dating:
“I prefer a kiss that is so much more than just a tongue in your mouth.”
On men:
“Guys are kind of retarded until they’re about 30.”
On yogurt:
“A girl told me my lips looked like somebody had pressed strawberry yogurt against my face.”
