The Shield

Police corruption is always a hot topic, and few shows have dealt with this issue as well as “The Shield.” The series aired on FX from 2002 to 2008 and we were big fans from the start.

Created by Shawn Ryan, the show is known for its gritty portrayal of corrupt police officers and intense, fast-paced storytelling. Set in the fictional Farmington district of Los Angeles, the series focuses on the activities of an elite unit of the LAPD known as the Strike Team, led by Detective Vic Mackey.

Michael Chiklis was brilliant in the lead role as Vic, creating an inconic anti-hero that carry a show like this. The rest of the cast was also excellent.

This show was a little more flashy and probably less realistic than a show like “The Wire.” It had a completely different vibe with it’s soapy storylines. But the show worked very well.

“The Shield” can also boast about having one of the best endings in television history. We won’t spoil it for those of you who haven’t watched yet (what are you waiting for?!?)

Michael Chiklis
Michael is best known for his work as the down and dirty detective Vic Mackey on FX’s runaway hit “The Shield,” but he has been working in the business for quite some time.

Walton Goggins
Walton Goggins is one of the best character actors working in Hollywood these days. Goggins played Vic’s sidekick and best friend Shane Vendrell. Shane is a Southern-born cop with a cocky demeanor. Like Vic, he loved bending and ultimately breaking the rules and we watch them grapple with the consequences of their actions.
