Notable Projects
“The Shield” (2002 to 2008)
This FX show was known for its gritty portrayal of corrupt police officers and intense, fast-paced storytelling. Set in the fictional Farmington district of Los Angeles, the series focuses on the activities of an elite unit of the LAPD known as the Strike Team, led by Detective Vic Mackey (played brilliantly by Michael Chiklis). Walton Goggins was equally brilliant as Vic’s sidekick and best friend Shane Vendrell. Shane is a Southern-born cop with a cocky demeanor. Like Vic, he loved bending and ultimately breaking the rules and we watch them grapple with the consequences of their actions. Goggins embodies the role and gives the character a mix of charm, volatility, and vulnerability. Like Vic, Shane is a compelling antihero and a tragic figure.
“The White Lotus” (2025)
Goggins plays Rich Hatchett who comes across as a pretty grumpy dude who has some serious problems. He arrives with his gorgeous and cheerful companion Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood). Chelsea is trying to get Rich to enjoy himself, even offering tantric sex in the opening episode. But as the show progresses we learn what’s bothering Rich and what compelled him to come to the resort in Thailand.
“Predators” (2010)
Jason Zingale notes: “The rest of the actors make the most of their limited screen time — especially Walton Goggins as the sleazy murderer-rapist and Topher Grace as a frightened physician who doesn’t seem to belong — but it’s Laurence Fishburne’s delightfully wacky turn as a stir crazy survivor who’s seen ‘Apocalypse Now’ a few too many times that nearly steals the show.”
