We discovered Joy way back in 2002 when we screened “Antwone Fisher,” the film starring Derek Luke that marked Denzel Washington’s directorial debut. As you can see from the photos on this page from the film, Joy is very beautiful and she has a killer smile. We knew then that she was also very talented as well and would take Hollywood by storm. Not suprisongly, she’s gone on to a very successful career in Hollywood.
Joy was born in the Bronx and she attended Yale before becoming a model. Her most high-profile work prior to her acting gig was modeling for Tommy Hilfiger and Victoria’s Secret. She’s a model with brains and talent, so you can see why we had to feature her.
In “Antwone Fisher” Joy plays Cheryl, Antwone’s love interest in the film. She delivers a sweet, heartfelt performance that perfectly compliments the Antwone character brilliantly played by Derek Luke. These two newcomers have a fantastic chemistry on screen and both of them have bright careers ahead. When we interviewed Derek Luke, we asked him about working with Joy Bryant. You can read his response by checking out the interview.
Joy also appeared in “Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins” and on television shows “Parenthood” and “Good Girls Revolt.”

Lane’s Take
I didn’t see “Antwone Fisher.” I never heard of Joy Bryant before. I don’t know if she’s a good actress, where she’s from or what she’s about. I don’t know anything about her other than these pictures. Oddly enough, I’m in love.
