Elizabeth Banks is one of the most promising young actresses in Hollywood today, and her natural talent has not gone unnoticed on screen. In fact, some of the industry’s biggest directors have already worked with her prior to her up-and-coming status, including Steven Spielberg (“Catch Me If You Can”), Sam Raimi (“Spider-Man 2”) and Guy Ritchie (“Swept Away”). Original hailing from Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Elizabeth received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania before enrolling at the American Conservatory Theater for further stage training.
After appearing in small screen guest spots for some of the biggest shows on TV, Elizabeth made the move from New York to Los Angeles in the hopes of finding more film roles. She wouldn’t stand a chance being noticed, however, until changing her real name Elizabeth Mitchell, the name of an actress who had already established a decent film career of her own.
Following an appearance in the 2000 rendition of “Shaft,” Elizabeth landed roles in the raunchy “The State” comedy “Wet Hot American Summer” and the comic-book blockbuster “Spider-Man.” She then went on to perform in a number of more serious roles, but it’s no secret that her real talent lies in comedy, and before long, she was back doing what she does best: making audiences laugh. Couple that with her stunning looks and bubbly personality, and Elizabeth Banks may just be one of the most explosive hidden talents in cinema. Rest assured, though, because Elizabeth won’t remain hidden for much longer. Boasting a healthy upcoming schedule that’s sure to make her star rise over the next year, Elizabeth is certainly a gal to keep your eye on.

Elizabeth has been appearing in some of the biggest films of the year now for quite some time, but is just beginning to earn recognition. Along with small roles in both “Spider-Man” films and “Catch Me If You Can,” Elizabeth can also be seen in “Seabiscuit” and the “Closer” clone “Heights.” She has also made guest appearances on popular TV series like “Sex & the City,” “Law & Order: SVU,” and more recently, “Stella,” with friend and “The Baxter” co-star Michael Showalter.
Elizabeth Says
On Madonna:
“If I ever complain about yachting around the Mediterranean with Madonna, who I just idolized as a child, I should be slapped across the face.”
On choosing roles:
“When slasher films and teen comedies came along, I said no … You have to maintain your dignity.”
