If you want a solid set of headphones, then you may be tempted to opt for the Sony WH-1000XM4 or Cambridge Audio Melomania P100. These are currently ranked as being some of the best headphones on the market, but with that being said, there are a few things that you need to take note of when making your decision.

Delving into the Sony WH-1000XM4

With a total weight of 253g and 1.57-inch dome drivers, these are ranked as being some of the best headphones for daily use. The battery life is great, and the audio quality is very rich. If you want headphones so you can listen to music or game on the go, then you’ll be interested to know that these headphones come with an active noise cancellation feature.

This is especially useful if you have an interest in live or online games, as you won’t miss out on anything. If you play live poker, it’s important to be able to hear the dealer. On top of this, the games usually take place in a live casino, so it’s nice to be able to hear the atmosphere of the room.

The Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones are excellent for this, as their active noise cancellation feature allows you to block out distractions, ensuring that you can concentrate on the game. In the instance of streaming live sports, you’ll be able to block out a lot of external noise too, which is great if you like to catch up with games while riding public transport.

One thing to take note of with these headphones is that they’re not water resistant, so if you go to the gym a lot then these might not be the best option. The looser fit also means you might want to think twice before going for a run with them.

Another thing to take note of is that although the noise cancellation is great, they’re not really suited to taking calls. For that reason, these headphones are best suited to streaming and gaming but don’t offer much beyond that for the price so be mindful of that.

Cambridge Audio Melomania P100

The Cambridge Audio Melomania P100 headphones have a battery life of 100 hours, with 40mm dynamic drivers. The sound is great, and the battery life leaves nothing to be desired. With that being said, the noise cancellation isn’t as good as the Sony WH-1000XM4. These headphones tend to suit those who don’t want to worry about battery life. The EQ settings also give you a lot of room for customisation. As the noise cancellation is lacking, these headphones are more suited to those who want to take work calls, and want to listen to music on a general basis.

They’re not suited to busy environments, but this is compensated by the sound customisability. With a seven-band equaliser and several presets, these headphones put you in the driver’s seat.

So, both headphones are great options, but the Sony WH-1000XM4 tends to be better for gaming and offers great noise cancellation in busy environments. The Cambridge Audio Melomania P100s however, are more suited to taking business calls and listening to music on a daily basis.
