Like Michelle Ryan in “Bionic Woman,” NBC bet its sci-fi dramedy “Chuck” on the appeal of a beautiful foreign actress unknown to the American audience. Yvonne Strahovski played Sarah Walker, a perfect counterpart to shaggy computer geek Chuck. Although from a Polish family, she was born in Sydney, Australia in 1976 and studied Performance at the University of Western Sydney’s Theatre Nepean before beginning her acting career in Australian television and film projects.
Her move to Los Angeles naturally became permanent, as she has cited Australia’s struggling film industry as one reason for departure. Yvonnemade her mark on the town with “Chuck” and then parlayed that into a successful acting career with roles on "24" and "Handmaid's Tale.""
