Pin-up Models Gallery

We’ve photographed all sorts of styles over the years, and we’re huge fans of pin-up photography. Our pictorials haven’t focused on the classic “pin-up” look, though naturally many of the looks and photos have been inspired by this iconic style.

Pin-up photography is a style that originated in the late 19th century but became quite popular from the 1940s through the 1960s, characterized by images of models in playful, often mildly suggestive poses, designed to be “pinned up” for decoration. Pin-up images became widely popular during WWII, boosting morale among soldiers by providing a light-hearted, morale-boosting distraction.

In its purest form, the style evokes a vintage look, harking back to a specific era and evoking nostalgia with elements like classic hairstyles (like victory rolls), red lipstick, and timeless makeup looks. Models will often wear clothing reminiscent of the 1940s to 1960s, like corsets, high-waisted shorts or skirts, stockings with garters, sailor outfits, or form-fitting dresses with a retro twist. The backdrop often includes vintage furniture, cars, or decor that transports the viewer back in time.

We loved borrowing from this style in many of our photo sets. Poses from the pin-up style are often designed to be flirtatious but not overtly sexual. There’s an emphasis on coy looks, playful gestures, and sometimes exaggerated expressions. Common poses include looking back over the shoulder, sitting with legs crossed, or leaning against objects in a way that accentuates curves. This is great stuff and we were inspired by this over and over again with our amazing models.
