Erin Andrews, the holder of Playboy’s “America’s Sexiest Sportscaster” in 2007 and 2008, has discovered both the positive side of being a famous sideline reporter (covering sports as a living, appearing on “Dancing with the Stars”) as well as the negative side to fame (invasion of privacy, death threats). But she has also shown strong perseverance and a loyalty to her employer, ESPN.
She was born in Maine in 1978 and graduated in 2000 from the University of Florida where she was a member of the Gators basketball dance team, the Dazzlers. She followed in her father’s footsteps of broadcast journalism (he was an award-winning investigative journalist) by starting as a freelance reporter. With each passing year Erin gradually rose in the ranks: FSN Florida, Sunshine Network, Turner Sports, and in 2004, a reporter for ESPN’s NHL coverage.
Sideline reporting and Erin Andrews has become a mainstay at ESPN. Standing at 5’10” with instantly recognizable blonde hair, Erin became a fan favorite. As her fame increased, she also had to manage dealing with an invasion of privacy case as well as numerous death threats. By 2010, most of those issues had been resolved, and Erin tried her moves on “Dancing with the Stars,” finishing third along with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
Erin Says
On “Dancing with the Stars”:
“I think this experience will make me a better reporter. I can see things from different perspectives. This experience changed my life.”
