Ice Hockey is Now the UK’s Biggest Indoor Sport: How Players Restore Their Smile After a Long Career in the Game

    hockey

While this may come as a surprise to many, especially given the UK’s penchant for typically avoiding most North American sports, the world of UK ice hockey has had a good solid decade or so of growth, growing from strength to strength to the point that it’s now the country’s fastest gowning and most popular indoor sport—and third most popular winter sport overall, behind only football and rugby.

If there’s one thing ice hockey players are somewhat famed for though, it’s their amazing ability to loose a tooth here and there. After all, what more could you expect when a rubber puck comes flying at your face at a million miles per hour with each and every game you’d play.

So what are the country’s (and the world’s) top ice hockey players doing when they find themselves missing teeth? The answer: dental implants.

There are many options available when it comes to damaged or missing teeth, and most of us are probably have some degree of familiarity with dentures and dental bridges. But neither of these can even begin to come close to providing the same look, feel and function of a natural tooth; certainly not in the same near-perfect way that a dental implant can.

To put it simply, the point of a dental implant is to fully replicate a natural tooth in every way, and they’ve been painstakingly designed to mimic the way that a healthy natural tooth actually works so as to provide a seamless experience that’s no different from the real thing. To break it down, there are three separate parts that make up a dental implant, and they come together as follows:

    — The titanium screw: The titanium screw is the implant itself, although the whole finished product is what people are most commonly referring to when talking about ‘dental implants’. The titanium screw is installed tightly into the jawbone, where it fuses with the surrounding tissue as it heals through a process known as ‘osseointegration’. Some patients may not have sufficient enough jawbone mass to adequately support the screw and the osseointegration process, and in cases such as these a bone graft will be necessary before any steps of the procedure can go ahead. Once the titanium screw has been installed, osseointegration and healing will need 3 to 6 months to do their thing before the next part of the procedure can go ahead.

    — The abutment: The second part of a dental implant is the abutment. This is usually also made of titanium, and it sits on top of the titanium screw and works as a connective piece between the screw and the crown. While in some rare circumstances the whole procedure can be done at once, for the vast majority of patients the abutment won’t be fitted on top of the implant until all has been given adequate enough time to heal. The patient will then need to come back several months later for a second procedure, where the gum can be reopened and left to heal around the abutment once it’s been fitted in place.

    — The crown: The third and final piece completing the dental implant is the crown. Crowns are typically made of porcelain or ceramic, and each and every one made is custom designed to properly fit amongst the surrounding natural teeth, while also matching their colour. Each crown is incredibly robust, almost as much so as a healthy natural tooth, making them the toughest and most resilient option available when it comes to replacements for damaged or missing teeth.

So given that dental implants provide such a durable option for replacing damaged or missing teeth, it’s no surprise that the procedure is so popular among ice hockey players all over the world who’ve found them in the unfortunate position of having to replace a tooth or two. Moreover, Turkey has quickly risen up the ranks to become one of the most popular locations in the world to get the procedure done, not only amongst the ice hockey playing elite, but for regular folks like you and me all over the world too.

There are many great benefits that can be had when getting dental implants Turkey and there’s perhaps none better than the price. Simply put, you can stand to save thousands of pounds when you travel to Turkey for your dental implant surgery, and that’s including your accommodation, transportation, and many other great benefits. In fact, this can all be tied together as part of a bespoke all-inclusive dental implants treatment package, which includes your stay in luxury 5* accommodation, your own VIP transfer driver to collect you from the airport and take you everywhere you need to go, your own personal translator, and a designated patient coordinator to help ensure the whole experience runs smoothly.

Furthermore, Turkey has some of the best dental surgeons the world has to offer, each with countless years of experience to boast. Since Turkey is such a popular destination for dental surgery, medical professionals in the country see so much more action than their counterparts elsewhere in the world, especially the UK, and are put through the most intense training. Medical standards in Turkey are also some of the highest in the world too, and those working in the field can expect frequent surprise visits to ensure all standards and guidelines are being properly adhered to at all times.

So whether you’re a professional ice hockey player, a fan, or just a regular someone in need of a new tooth, if dental implants sound like something you’ll benefit from and you’d like to either know more or kick start the process for yourself, then you should be sure to get in contact with us today for your free quote, and get yourself one vital step closer to restoring your smile and getting your confidence back.
