MOVIES
Sean Connery 6-Film Collection
This stunning collection is a cornerstone release for any James Bond fan, capturing the era that defined 007 and cemented Sean Connery as one of cinema’s most iconic leading men. The set collects the actor’s official run as James Bond while notably excluding the unofficial 1983 entry “Never Say Never Again.” These films established the franchise’s enduring mix of sophistication, danger, and globe-trotting spectacle, and Connery’s cool authority remains the benchmark against which every Bond is measured. Though these movies have been packaged together many times before, this marks the first time they’ve been available on 4K UHD. Each film has been remastered from new 4K scans of the original camera negatives and features Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio, delivering a significant upgrade in both image clarity and sound design. For the James Bond fan on your gift list, this release is absolutely worth the upgrade. Extras include audio commentaries for every film, along with production featurettes, archival material, and much more.
The 40-Year-Old Virgin
This is easily one of the funniest movies ever made, and it features Judd Apatow at the height of his comedic powers. We loved the raunchy comedies of this era, and frankly we don’t give a damn about those who are too easily offended by this type of humor — you know the people who will appreciate owning this brilliant comedy. “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” also launched (or turbocharged) the careers of a cast that went on to dominate the genre for the next decade and beyond. Steve Carell delivers a career-making performance, supported by an ensemble that includes Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, Catherine Keener, Romany Malco, Elizabeth Banks, Leslie Mann, and more — many of whom became the backbone of Apatow’s comedy empire. The 2025 4K release gives the film a long-overdue upgrade, preserving its crude charm while presenting it with improved clarity and detail. Extras are loaded and essential: they include an audio commentary by director/co-writer Apatow, Carell, and the cast, a new Q&A from the 20th anniversary screening at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, deleted scenes, Apatow’s video production diaries, audition footage, a gag reel, and much more. Buy this for someone who will approeciate it, and share it with younger generations who could use to loosen up a bit!
Se7en: Ultimate Collector’s Edition
It’s hard to imagine a darker film to give as a Christmas gift, but “Se7en” is a brilliant crime thriller that helped to kick-start David Fincher’s career as one of the most skilled and accomplished directors of our time. The film follows a weary veteran detective (Morgan Freeman) and his impulsive new partner (Brad Pitt) as they hunt a serial killer who stages his murders around the seven deadly sins. As the investigation deepens, the case becomes a grim psychological descent that tests their morality, faith, and capacity for hope. The film features one of the most shocking and disturbing endings in movie history, and it will likely leave a lasting effect on you. It certainly did for us. David Fincher personally oversaw this remaster. For a long time, this film was stuck on a dated Blu-ray. The 2025 4K release includes the IMAX version restoration and comes in deluxe packaging with art cards and a booklet. Extras include four audio commentaries (one of which features Fincher, Pitt and Freeman), as well as collection of behind-the-scenes featurettes, deleted scenes and two alternate endings.
The Social Network
This 2010 film remains one of the defining films of the 21st century — a sharp, propulsive drama that captures the birth of Facebook while interrogating ambition, betrayal, and the cost of success in the digital age. Directed by David Fincher and written by Aaron Sorkin, the film transforms boardrooms and dorm rooms into arenas of psychological combat, anchored by blistering dialogue and a career-defining performance at its center. What could have been a straightforward tech biopic instead becomes a tense character study about power, loyalty, and isolation, unfolding with the precision of a thriller. As Jason noted when this new Blu-ray was released, “There isn’t a weak link in the cast — from major players like Andrew Garfield and Armie Hammer to Rooney Mara’s brief appearance as one of Zuckerberg’s pre-Facebook girlfriends — but it’s Jesse Eisenberg’s star-making performance as the socially inept whiz-kid that elevates ‘The Social Network’ into something truly special.” The 2025 4K release gives the film the premium treatment it deserves, presenting it in a newly remastered transfer that highlights Fincher’s meticulous visual design and the film’s moody, controlled aesthetic. Special features are extensive and essential, including a pair of audio commentaries — one with Fincher, and another featuring Sorkin and key cast members — along with a feature-length making-of documentary, additional behind-the-scenes featurettes, and more.
Sinners
Ryan Coogler has proven time and again why he’s one of the best filmmakers of his generation, and “Sinners” builds on that phenomenal track record with a wholly original genre flick that blends culture and history into a blood-soaked Southern Gothic thriller that’s dripping in racial subtext. Coogler packs so much great world-building and character work into the first 90 minutes that it doesn’t even matter that the final act is a bit of a mess. The vampire subplot certainly makes for a fun way to end the story, but it’s the weakest part of the movie, as it doesn’t get the same love and attention as the rest of the film. Despite these minor complaints, “Sinners” is yet another triumph from Coogler that boasts a great dual performance from frequent collaborator Michael B. Jordan as well as some stylish visuals and a haunting score. Extras include a making-of featurette, two additional featurettes that explore the film’s score and creature effects, some deleted scenes and more.
F1: The Movie – Limited Edition Steelbook
This high-octane sports drama delivers both visceral spectacle and old-school movie-star charisma, placing you directly in the cockpit of the world’s most dangerous motorsport. Anchored by a commanding lead performance, the film follows a veteran driver drawn back into Formula One to mentor a rising talent, only to discover that speed, ego, and ambition collide just as violently off the track as they do on it. What begins as a comeback story evolves into a tense, immersive look at competition, teamwork, and the razor-thin line between legacy and obsession. Shot during actual Formula One race weekends and engineered for maximum immersion, the film makes full use of large-format photography and thunderous sound design to capture the intensity of racing at 200 miles per hour. The Limited Edition Steelbook presentation underscores the film’s premium status, offering collectible packaging designed for fans and home-theater enthusiasts alike. Extras include a behind-the-scenes look at making the movie — from table reads to location shooting to recording the score — as well as in-depth featurettes on filming the crash sequence, the Red Flag sequence and more.
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (4K Steelbook)
This cult classic was nominated for 10 Oscars, winning two. You don’t hear much about it today, though hard-core fans of the film have been begging to see it properly restored for years. Peter Weir’s sweeping naval epic pairs old-school adventure with meticulous historical authenticity, anchored by commanding performances from Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany. It’s a film that rewards patience and repeat viewings, immersing you in the rhythms of life at sea during the Napoleonic Wars while delivering bursts of raw, visceral action. Disney finally delivered with this gorgeous 4K SteelBook release, which marks a significant upgrade over the previous Blu-ray edition. The new transfer highlights the intricate period details of the ships and costumes, while the thunderous sound design makes it an especially satisfying showcase disc for home theaters — and a perfect gift for history buffs and audiophiles alike. Extras round out the package with a robust collection of behind-the-scenes featurettes, historical and production material, and other supplemental content that deepens appreciation for the film’s craftsmanship.
TELEVISION
Ted Lasso: The Richmond Way
This release collects the complete original three-season run of one of the most beloved television series of the past decade. While a fourth season of “Ted Lasso” has now been announced — a development that may inspire both excitement and hesitation — there’s no denying that the initial three-season arc told a remarkably complete and emotionally satisfying story. It’s a brilliant and genuinely hilarious series, blending sharp comedy with sincerity, empathy, and just enough corniness to make it feel charming rather than annoying. Anchored by Jason Sudeikis’ endlessly likable performance, “Ted Lasso” succeeds because it believes in kindness without being naïve and optimism without ignoring conflict. It’s comfort viewing with real emotional weight, equally capable of delivering laugh-out-loud moments and unexpected tears. This set makes an ideal gift for just about everyone on your list, whether they’re longtime fans or first-time viewers. Extras include a generous selection of behind-the-scenes featurettes, cast and creator interviews, and other bonus content that offers a deeper look at the making of the series and the chemistry that made it such a phenomenon.
The Penguin: The Complete First Season
This dark, confident expansion of Matt Reeves’ Gotham universe is anchored by truly remarkable performances from Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti. Farrell delivers a transformational turn as Oswald Cobblepot, disappearing entirely into a version of the Penguin that is both grotesque and oddly sympathetic, while Milioti’s performance is electric — sharp, dangerous, and emotionally precise. Milioti took home a well-deserved Emmy for her work here, and Farrell was every bit as deserving, delivering one of the most compelling character performances in recent television. What sets The Penguin apart is its willingness to fully commit to a grounded, character-driven crime saga, using its noir sensibility and striking visual style to tell a deeply personal origin story. The series offers a unique and visually stunning portrayal of the Penguin’s rise, exploring power, loyalty, and survival in Gotham’s criminal underworld with cinematic ambition and surprising emotional depth. This complete first-season set is essential viewing for fans of prestige television and anyone invested in the evolving mythology of Gotham City. The set includes behind-the-scenes featurettes, cast and creator interviews, and production-focused segments that dig into Farrell’s transformation into Oz and the show’s grounded, noir-inspired take on Gotham. Several extras also explore the series’ visual design, costuming, and its connection to “The Batman” universe.
The American Revolution
Ken Burns is back with another sweeping documentary covering one of the most important events of American history as he did decades ago with “The Civil War.” Together with filmakers Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt, Burns gives us a deeply human examination of the conflict that gave birth to the United States. Told with the meticulous research, moral clarity, and narrative patience that have become hallmarks of the Burns filmmaking tradition, the series moves beyond familiar myths to explore the Revolution as a lived experience — one shaped by competing loyalties, unfinished ideals, and profound personal sacrifice. Rather than focusing solely on famous figures, the film gives equal weight to soldiers, civilians, women, enslaved people, and Indigenous nations whose lives were irrevocably changed by the war. That said, the series doesn’t lose the profound importance of the event. Visually rich and emotionally resonant, the documentary blends archival imagery, period artwork, expert commentary, and first-person accounts drawn from letters and diaries to create an immersive historical portrait. The battle desriptions we excellent and he focused on aspects of the war that are rarely discussed. It’s an essential viewing experience for history buffs and a thoughtful, timely reminder that the American experiment was forged amid uncertainty, contradiction, and conflict. Bonus features include supplemental interviews, behind-the-scenes material on the filmmaking process, and additional historical context that further deepens appreciation for the series.
