Five out of five dentists agree, Julia Roberts has a million-dollar smile, but she’s also got a lot of charisma, a rocking body and enough talent to make her the highest paid actress in Hollywood. Born in October of 1967 in a small town located in Georgia, Julia was raised in a middle-class family supported by her salesman father but she’s always had the aspirations of becoming a famous actress. She finally headed for New York City when she turned seventeen and joined her sister Lisa in looking for some kind of TV or film work. Like many of our beautiful celebrity babes, Julia first started out as a model in order to earn some cash on the side while she took acting lessons in her spare time. She received her break a little earlier than most though, when Julia’s older brother Eric Roberts convinced a director to cast her in the film “Blood Red.” After appearing in the film, Julia was offered bit parts in TV series like “Miami Vice” until she was finally able to land a major film role in “Mystic Pizza,” a relatively unknown chick flick that wouldn’t gain recognition until after the young actress became a star.

By 1990, Julia would no longer go unnoticed after being nominated for Best Supporting Actress in the drama “Steel Magnolias” and making her Hollywood mark in the Oscar-nominated Best Actress performance as a prostitute in “Pretty Woman.” After the immense success of her onscreen romance with then-heartthrob Richard Gere, Julia continued to knock out blockbusters like “Sleeping with the Enemy” and Steven Spielberg’s “Hook,” but she also unleashed a flurry of bombs that fortunately had little negative effect on her career. By 2000 Julia had returned to her old self again with a trilogy of romantic comedy blockbusters (one of which reunited the actress with her “Pretty Woman” co-star) and her first Oscar win for her amazing performance in “Erin Brockovich,” a role that eventually tipped the salary gods in her favor.

Julia’s love life has been just as bumpy as her career, including plenty of high-status relationships with celebrities like “24” star Kiefer Sutherland and a short marriage to country star Lyle Lovett, but after a long hiatus from a publicized dating life, Julia tied the knot with cinematographer Danny Moder in 2002. Julia’s beauty has also never been contended either, appearing on People Magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People List” four times in the last decade. In more interesting news, a recently discovered 9000-year old female skeleton that was excavated in Bulgaria has been called “Julia Roberts” by archaeologists for its perfect teeth. Julia Roberts is the epitome of a superstar and with plenty of juicy roles still up for grabs, fans of the redheaded beauty can’t wait to see what she’ll be up to next.

Julia Roberts on the Screen

Julia's screen career has never really credited the sexy actress as award-winning talent, but she has a successful history of making a mediocre film incredibly enjoyable with her bright smile, contagious laugh and gorgeous red locks. Earlier in her film career, Julia appeared in a number of self-described "chick flicks" like "Steel Magnolias" and "Pretty Woman" before returning to her roots in the late 90's with a new heap of romantic comedies like "My Best Friend's Wedding," "Notting Hill," "America's Sweethearts" and "Runaway Bride." Another genre that fans will find the smiling actress improving is the thriller, starring in "Sleeping with the Enemy" and "The Pelican Brief" in the middle of her career while she was still trying to break free from the "Pretty Woman" type she had since been cast as. Her most recent films are among the best although, and by taking chances on better scripts, she ultimately enriched the stamina of her own career. Winning an Oscar and Golden Globe for her performance in "Erin Brockovich" and making a small appearance in "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind," Julia proved to the public that she could indeed do just about anything. We're not saying the Julia is an amazing actress, because she certainly doesn't have the sane level of talent as the big league girls that walk the carpet today, but she does have the unbelievable ability to make you smile, and sometimes, that's all we're looking for in a good movie.
