A member of Maxim’s Hot List in 2009 and 2010, Emily Jean “Emma” Stone was born in 1988 in Scottsdale, Arizona. She fell into acting for the stage at an early age and when she was 15 dropped out of high school and moved to California with her mother to pursue acting. To convince her parents to let her follow her dreams, she created a PowerPoint presentation with “Hollywood” by Madonna as the musical accompaniment.

It was television that first got Emma Stone acting credits: in the pilot for “The New Partridge Family,” an appearance on “Malcolm in the Middle,” and a recurring role on “Drive.” But the big screen was her catapult, and that came in the form of “Superbad” in summer 2007. She quickly garnered other roles in comedies like “The Rocker,” “The House Bunny,” and “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.” “Zombieland” followed in late 2009.

At the turn of the century, Emma found herself voicing the female lead of “Marmaduke” and playing opposite Amanda Bynes in the 2010 film “Easy A,” purportedly stated to be Amanda Bynes’ final acting role; she submitted a tweet announcing her retirement in June 2010. A natural blonde, Emma is better known as a redhead and adopted the brunette look for Judd Apatow in "Superbad." She eventually would like to produce her own films and currently divides her time between LA and New York, where she has a place in Greenwich Village.

Her career took off in the teens with memorable roles in films such as "The Amazing Spider-Man." in 2012 and "La La Land." in 2016.

In 2021, Emma starred in "Cruella."

Emma Says

On digital production:
“It’s nice that you don’t have to cut even when they need to reset a light or they need to make minor adjustments. You don’t need to cut. You can just keep rolling, and even that helps the process. I enjoy shooting on digital, especially Genesis.”
