Born Alyson Renae Michalka to a former Raiders cheerleader, Aly spent her formative years in both Southern California and Seattle, Washington. Along with her younger sister, Amanda (featured in Peter Jackson’s “The Lovely Bones”), the duo formed the musical group 78violet in 2005 with their first album Into the Rush. They have been with the Hollywood label since 2004.
Her acting debut was in the made-for-TV movie “Now You See It…” in 2005 for the Disney Channel. Disney would be a home for Aly in the ensuing years; it was there she appeared in “Phil of the Future” and “Cow Belles.” In 2007, she portrayed Taylor in “Super Sweet 16: The Movie” before co-starring alongside Vanessa Hudgens and Lisa Kudrow in Todd Graff’s “Bandslam,” a summer 2009 release that grossed just over $5 million in the domestic box office.
In 2010, Aly was part of the Emma Stone comedy “Easy A” and joined the first season of “Hellcats,” the new CW series about the competitive world of college cheerleading, also starring former Disney alum, Ashley Tisdale.
