Teyana Taylor in “The Rip”
Some of us weren’t very familiar wth Teyana Taylor until we caught “One Battle After Another.” But her portrayal of Perfidia Beverly Hills, a fierce and complex revolutionary, absolutely popped off the screen, earning her a Golden Globe win for Best Supporting Actress and an Oscar nomination, instantly making her unforgettable. She’s simply stunning, but she has that charisma that stays with you.
She was the first Black woman to top the Maxim Hot 100 list (2021) and she was married to former NBA player Iman Shumpert (and NBA champion with the Cleveland Cavaliers) from 2016 to 2024.
From a young age, Teyana showed a passion for music, dance, and performance, which propelled her into the entertainment industry as a teenager. This has led to a successful career as a recording artist along with her work as an actress. You can check out Teyana’s YouTube channel to listen to her music.
Now her acting career is taking off after starring opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another.” She followed that up joining Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in “The Rip” in 2026.

I was living on 144th and Seventh Avenue, and my single mom was working her ass off in corporate America to provide for me. She wanted me to have a nice party!”
