Olivia Munn in “The Newsroom”
We’ve always been fans of Oliva Munn. She’s beautiful and frankly hilarious.
Olivia became a familiar face on the tech and gaming show “Attack of the Show!” from 2006 to 2010. This role showcased her geek-culture credentials and comedic timing, earning her a cult following among gamers and tech enthusiasts.
We became even bigger fans when she landed the role of Sloan Sabbith on HBO’s “The Newsroom” (2012–2014), created by Aaron Sorkin. Playing a brilliant financial news anchor, she brought depth and intelligence to the character, earning critical praise for her performance. We recognized her as one of the sexiest TV actresses of 2013 for her role:
Smart is sexy, and Olivia Munn is smart, sexy and sassy as the brilliant but socially awkward Sloan Sabbith in “The Newsroom,” our #2-rated show. Munn showed she had some serious acting chops to go along with the pretty face and her comedic skills as she fit right in with the rest of the impressive cast as they fired off the quick and witty dialog that has become an Aaron Sorkin trademark. Unfortunately we don’t get to much more than her pretty face as Sloan is usually dressed in her professional office attire. Maybe the writers can put her on location doing a story from a beach in Hawaii. Just a suggestion . . .
Olivia proudly embraces her mixed Asian heritage, which has shaped her identity, career, and advocacy work. This talented beauty is a first-generation American of Chinese-Vietnamese descent on her mother’s side, combined with European ancestry from her father. What a lovely combo!

Olivia on Film
Olivia’s film career took off with supporting roles in comedies like “Date Night” (2010) alongside Tina Fey and Steve Carell, and “Iron Man 2” (2010), where she portrayed a reporter in a brief but memorable cameo. These early appearances leveraged her TV fame and opened doors to bigger projects.
Her breakthrough film role came with “Magic Mike” (2012), where she played a romantic interest to Channing Tatum, adding a sultry edge to her persona. This led to a string of high-profile films, including “The Babymakers” (2012), “The Internship” (2013) with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, and “Deliver Us from Evil” (2014), a horror-thriller that showcased her range.
Olivia’s most notable cinematic achievement was joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Psylocke in “X-Men: Apocalypse” (2016), where she portrayed the telepathic ninja with striking action sequences. Though the film received mixed reviews, her performance was a highlight, cementing her in blockbuster territory. She followed this with “Office Christmas Party” (2016) and “The LEGO Ninjago Movie” (2017), voicing a character, further diversifying her portfolio.
In 2018, Olivia starred in “The Predator,” taking on a lead role as a scientist battling the iconic alien, though the film’s poor reception tempered its impact. She rebounded with indie projects like “Violet” (2021), earning praise for her nuanced portrayal of a film executive grappling with anxiety. In 2023, she appeared in “Easter Sunday” and “Family Switch,” blending comedy with family-friendly appeal.
