Michelle Pfeiffer in The Family

Michelle Pfeiffer in “The Family”

What’s your Michelle Pfeiffer moment? Could it be all her crawling around as Catwoman in “Batman Returns”? Maybe. But there’s also her entrance in “Scarface” which ranks as one of the most memorable movie entrances ever. Give her a glass elevator and a long dress and her eyes do the rest. And to think she was only a Vons supermarket clerk.

Michelle was also an Orange County beauty pageant winner before taking over Hollywood with her great looks and sharp acting. “Scarface” showed her range and willingness to take risks and chances. Soon, Michelle was becoming not only a major talent but also a three-time Oscar nominee. She proved she could hold her own with heavyweights Pacino in “Frankie and Johnny” and Connery in “The Russia House.” As Catwoman in “Batman Returns,” she gave Michael Keaton a run for his money – and possibly stole the movie at the same time. She’s underrated in Scorsese’s “The Age of Innocence” and has plenty of fun with Jack in “Wolf.” In the mid-90s she flexed her romantic leading lady muscles while working opposite Robert Redford in “Up Close & Personal” and George Clooney in “One Fine Day.” Michelle took a break in the early 2000s to raise her 2 children (she’s married to TV icon David E. Kelley), but it would be in Hollywood’s best interest to continue utilizing this beauty for as long as she wants to keep dazzling us.

We featured Michelle and her Catwoman character in our Looks That Kill – How Chicks Who Kick Ass feature.

Michelle Pfeiffer on the Screen

“Hairspray” is not the only musical Michelle has participated in. She is the sole survivor of “Grease 2” from 1983 and we are lucky she made it out alive. If you’re looking for a Best of Michelle Pfeiffer list, try the following: “Scarface,” “Dangerous Liaisons,” “The Fabulous Baker Boys,” “Frankie and Johnny,” “Batman Returns,” “The Age of Innocence,” “Wolf,” “Dangerous Minds” and “What Lies Beneath.” Though she took a break from acting for a few years, Michelle returned in 2007 with supporting roles in “Hairspray” and “Stardust,” and more recently, films like “Dark Shadows,” “People Like Us,” and the new mob action-comedy, “The Family.”
