Timothée Chalamet in “A Complete Unknown”
We first got introduced to Timothée Chalamet in season 2 of “Homeland.” It was obvious at the time that the kid had talent as he effortlessly handled the role of Finn Walden, the spoiled, rebellious teenage son of the Vice President of the United States. But few could have predicted his quick rise to stardom. There aren’t many “movie stars” these days who can carry a film, but Chalamet certainly fits that description.
At the 2025 SAG Awards, while accepting the award for Best Actor for “A Complete Unknown,” Chalamet stated: “I’m really in pursuit of greatness. I know people don’t usually talk like that, but I want to be one of the greats. I’m inspired by the greats; I’m inspired by the greats here tonight. I’m as inspired by Daniel Day-Lewis, Marlon Brando and Viola Davis as I am by Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps, and I want to be up there.”
It was a pretty bold statement. On the one hand it was pretty damn cocky. Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps? On the other hand, you have to admire his devotion to his craft. Leonardo DiCaprio once gave him a piece of advice: no hard drugs and no superhero movies. Chalamet certainly has an eye for great roles.

Select Acting Roles
“A Complete Unknown“ (2024)
Chalamet delivers a stunning performance as Bob Dylan in this solid biopic. He seemed to embody Dylan, nailing the manerisms and voice, and even handling all the singing in the film.

“Dune“ (2021)
It’s not a superhero movie, but “Dune” provided Chalamet to star in a blockbuster franchise.

“Call Me by Your Name” (2017)
Rob Dean writes: “Chalamet and Hammer are incredible as the movie’s central figures. They are each very idiosyncratic in the way they operate, but it never feels overly quirky or an affectation. Instead, everything feels natural and real, and thus even more compelling to audiences who may not know people like this but can instantly identify their characters through their mannerisms.”
