One man’s . . . or woman’s . . . trash is another man’s . . . or woman’s treasure. That’s a helpful thought to keep in mind when considering trashy lingerie. If you’re trying to wrap your head around the concept, think about elegant and expensive lingerie . . . and then think about the opposite. Consider the over-the-top lingerie you see on strippers, or lingerie with super bright colors that make it look a little tacky. Or, made of unconventional materials like vinyl, latex or leather. If it’s a little edgy, slutty or weird, some might call it trashy. Sure, it’s not for everyone, and certainly not for every occasion, but damn it can be quite sexy at the right time on the right women.
Stars like Madonna were certianly an influence. We love her wild looks from the 80s. The trashy chic style traces back to that era with the rise of punk rock and other anti-establishment influences. We started seeing looks like ripped fishnets and leather.
Needless to say, we’ve had our share of pictorials that featured trashy lingerie in some of the photo sets.
