It’s that time of year, kids. The time of year when you neglect work, friends and family in favor of box scores, injury reports and depth charts. It’s the time of year when your significant other is making plans with someone else (and we don’t mean her best friend) because you won’t get off the damn computer. It’s the time of year when you agonize over whether to take Hanley Ramirez or Jose Reyes. It’s fantasy baseball time.
Here’s the good news – we’ve done all the work for you in preparation for this year’s draft. We’ve compiled the stats and projections, and ranked the players in easy-to-follow positional tiers. The bad news is that you can still muck this thing up by choosing the wrong players in the wrong rounds. But don’t fret, because we’ve got faith in your ability to sift through all the information and make sound decisions. You can do this – go put together a champion.
As with all of our seasonal fantasy previews, we offer only our advice. It’s your team, which means you're the one who has to make all the tough choices. And in the end, don’t you want a roster that you built, not one some fantasy publication told you to draft? Think of us as your fantasy friend, offering a flashlight and a road map. Now it's on you to process all of the following info and formulate your own opinions. And, above all else, have fun and enjoy yet another fantasy baseball season.
Tiered Positional Rankings
We’ve gathered more than 250 players and placed them into one of several categories. Depending on the position, you’ll have your stud, star, future (or upside) and fallback groups for each position, making it a little easier to gauge the remaining depth at specific positions during your draft. We've also highlighted dozens of players that we feel will be underrated ("Value Alert") or overvalued ("Letdown Alert"), knowing that a successful draft means much more than picking the right players in the first few rounds.
