Amsterdam City Guide

The web of streets and canals can make the city tough to navigate, so be sure to take a map when you decide to explore the city. One great way to see some of the exterior sites is to take a canal tour, something many locals have never done. The Rijksmuseum is a national museum and has a large collection of Dutch and Asian art. The Van Gogh Museum features more than 200 paintings by the artist, along with around 500 other works, including sketches, prints and etchings. Both of these museums are located southwest of the city center, in the Museumplein. The Anne Frank House and Museum is also a very popular attraction. This is the location where Frank and her family hid during the Nazi occupation of the city. The house is a short walk from city center and there are quite a few picturesque canals along the way.
