“24” became an instant sensation when it was release, and it’s unique format made it one of the most popular thrillers on television.
The format of “24” included 24-episode seasons, each of which covered a period of 24 hours. The show followed agent Jack Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland, with each episode representing one hour of real time. This novel concept added intense urgency and a continuous cliffhanger effect to the storytelling, and the writers exceuted this very well.
The show also featured complex, multi-threaded plots that interwove various characters and situations over a single day. The show kept you on the edge of your seat, and the Jack Bauer character became iconic in the wake of 9/11 and issues such as the use of torture to prevent terrorist attacks.

This heart-pounding show was fun to cover on an episodic basis. David Medsker had a lot of fun writing this blog, and his character nicknames were hilarious. “24” lost some of its luster after a great first few seasons before rebounding nicely for a fitting final run. Then it returned for a solid “Live Another Day” run for 12 episodes.

“24” worked for many reasons, but Sutherland’s portrayel of Jack Bauer was critical to the show’s success. He handled this role perfectly. Jack Bauer became an iconic character in television history, known for his relentless drive and complex moral compass. The depth and development of his character, along with others in the series, provided a strong emotional core that helped viewers connect with the high-concept premise.
Elisha Cuthbert
Beautiful Elisha played Kim Bauer, Jack’s teenage daughter in Season One who in later seasons comes back to work for CTU.
Yvonne Strahovski
This tall, athletic and sexy blonde played the character Kate Morgan in “24: Live Another Day,” which is the ninth season of “24.” Kate was introduced as a strong, resourceful, and intelligent CIA operative, who quickly becomes a central figure in the season’s plot. She’s a badass who can hold her own opposite Jack Bauer.
