Matt “The Terror” Serra has seen it all in his UFC career.

Considered one of the best jiu-jitsu fighters in the world, Serra, a 5-6, 170 pound middleweight fighter with a 15-4 MMA record, began his UFC career with a “highlight reel” knockout loss to UFC veteran Shonie Carter, who put away Serra with a spinning back fist. Following his opening defeat, Serra has had a back-and-forth career with a 5-4 record inside the Octagon.

After a loss to Karo Parisyan at UFC 53: Heavy Hitters, Serra disappeared until he was a member of the ‘Ultimate Fighter 4’ reality show, along with seven other middleweight fighters that had fallen out of the UFC limelight. Serra went on to surpass all seven fighters and win the Ultimate Fighter 4 by beating Chris Lytle in the finals by decision. The victory earned him a shot at the middleweight champion, Georges St. Pierre, on April 7 at UFC 69: Shootout.

Serra’s career can come full circle with a win over St. Pierre. Though he is the underdog, his exceptional ground game gives him a chance to pull of what would be one of the biggest upsets in UFC history.
