For those just learning about Space I'm In now, can you give a nutshell summary of your career prior to its release?

We all grew up together…played football, skateboarded, formed a punk band, then kept going. Tom Zuatuat from Geffen Records was at a gig of ours in Oxford, and halfway through the gig, he asked our manager how much would he want for the band. We were signed the next day.

Do you recall any anecdotes from the recording of the album?

We stayed in the Columbia, a famous rock and roll hotel in London, for two months. Lots of drink and fun. I think we were all nervous, but very happy.

Did you expect it to have a better commercial reception than it did?

Maybe. We could not believe people were buying it; it seemed strange to us. It did do quite well in the states.

Are you pleased to find that it still maintains enough of a following to make its way into this piece?

More than pleased. I love it when people come up to me and say it really meant something to them. It is very humbling. We do have the nicest fans...

What are you doing now?

I have formed a band called Nine Stone Cowboy, done a few gigs, and have just signed a management deal, so we will be releasing some new stuff soon that is very good. I also just heard that Lays Crisps are using "Feed It," an old Candyskins track, in their new ad, so I’m very excited.
