Browsers
Gadgets Channel / Bullz-Eye HomeMany thought the browser war was over when Microsoft crushed Netscape, but the emergence of new players like Firefox have changed the game again.
Internet Explorer
Microsoft is still the big dog on the block when it comes to web browsers, with their Internet Explorer dominating the market with nearly a 90% share (of course the fact that it comes with Windows probably has more to do with that than anything else.) While it may be the number 1 browser in terms of user-base, for many it’s the worst browser on the market. IE7, the latest version of the browser, is supposed to bring Microsoft back on top with the coolest, most user-friendly browser yet. Its still not out, but the second beta version was just released.
Netscape
How the mighty have fallen. Just a few years ago they were right behind Microsoft in the browser wars, and now they barely register. With their latest versions featuring all the problems of Internet Explorer (and then some) and no added features – it’s pretty much irrelevant.
Firefox
From the ashes of Netscape, however, came Firefox. Fast and user-friendly, Firefox has quickly become the browser of choice for the tech-savvy and avid web surfer. Firefox’s ability to have more than one webpage open at the same time, by use of tabbed browsing, was a revelation and the near-endless supply of extensions and add-ons available allow users to tailor Firefox to fit their specific needs.
Firefox Extension
The best thing about Firefox is its near-unlimited level of customization. With user-created extension you can block ads, download entire web pages to your computer, and even integrate your favorite websites and programs (like Wikipedia and iTunes) into your browser.
Opera
Opera is the little browser that could. And by little, I mean little (the installer is less than four megs big.) Designed with lower-end computers in mind, Opera is a stream-lined web browser that claims to be ‘the fastest browser on earth.’ It’s also highly customizable, much like Firefox. Opera Mini, the mobile version of the browser, is one of the most popular mobile browsers available today.
Yopza
This is an internet browser that ONLY displays free porno clips from various websites. We truly are living in the 21st century!

Dual screen porn is here!
The Nintendo DS has gotten a big boost recently due to its recently launched WiFi network, and later this year you’ll be able to surf the web on the little two-screened handheld, with a web browser powered by Opera.
Microsoft to Firefox users: “No shop for you!”
You may be able to download countless extensions, browse the web faster and easier with tabbed browsing, and enjoy added security and stability that Firerfox offers – but Microsoft won’t let you shop on their site with it!
Search Wars
The war between Google and Microsoft is heating up. Google is mad that Microsoft makes the default search on their browser be MSN. Of course, Google is the default search engine with Firefox, but you can’t spell capitalism without hypocrisy.
I’ll buy your for a dollar
Not endorsed by Firefox, a group of independent self-described ‘political activists’ are offereing 1 dollar to every website for each IE user they can convert to Firefox. Great idea guys, until someone sets up 100 PCs using IE to log onto their website and ‘convert’ to Firefox…
Google v. Microsoft
Google doesn’t like Microsoft. Firefox doesn’t like Microsoft. Therefore Google likes Firefox. That must be why they featured a Firefox ad on the Google homepage, the first (and so far only) time a third-party piece of software has been featured on Google’s homepage. Sun Tzu would be proud.
IE7 DOA?
Microsoft is banking on IE7 to be their next killer app. For this reviewer it’s been nothing more than a system killer. Not a good sign.
Test Beta Tests
Betas are cool because they let you see what’s on the horizon for your favorite program. They aren’t so cool because they have a tendency to crash more often than a drunk 18-year old in his parent’s car. This Cnet article looks at the latest betas for Firefox, Opera and IE, so you can see if the new features are worth the potential system failure.
