Cincinnati Live Music
Bogart's
Bogart's is more known for its live music than for its bar. National bands are often playing here but also some great local bands get their shots on Bogart's stage. Capacity here is only 1,400 so you get an up-close look at the group on stage, whoever it is. The crowd here tends to be on the young side though, so be prepared. 2621 Vine St., Corryville, OH, 45219; 513/281-8400.
Sudsy Malone's
Sudsy Malone's doesn't have live music anymore because of fire code violations, but the new owners are working diligently and should have the renovations complete by 2001. A real hole-in-the-wall laundromat/bar, Sudsy Malone's has hosted the best of local live music (and the worst as well) over the past 10 years. Located across the street from Bogart's, top up-and-coming national acts have regularly made stops at here (such as Beck and the Afghan Whigs). This place was featured on MTV a few years ago when the Cincy music scene was at its "peak." 2626 Vine St., Cincinnati, OH, 45219; 513/751-2300.
The Blue Wisp Jazz Club
Considered by many to be the city's best Jazz club, The Blue Wisp features some promising local acts as well as the occasional celeb. Also check out the Blue Wisp house band on Wednesday nights. 19 Garfield Place, Cincinnati, OH, 45202; 513/721-9801.
