Okay, a whole record devoted to TV themes. You may think there are 15, maybe 20 on the whole CD. Nope, not here. TVT Records has assembled 50, that's five-O, of the best TV themes ever. The only thing that's slightly bizarre is the fact that some of these songs are clearer than I've ever heard them before…modern technology and digital remastering will do that.

Some of the highlights, or at least the ones that brought me back to my childhood, are "The Honeymooners," still one of my favorite shows ever, "The Flintstones," "Gilligan's Island," "Welcome Back, Kotter" and "The Jeffersons." All through the 1980s there are themes from "Hill Street Blues," "L.A. Law," "The Cosby Show" and "Miami Vice." More current are these gems: "The Simpsons," "Friends," "NYPD Blue" and "Mad About You." I could go on for days -- even the "Muppet Show" tune is on here. Need I tell you what these themes sound like? Heck no, Beav, you've been sitting in front of that crummy TV your whole life, haven't you? And if you're younger, there's Nickelodeon and similar networks to catch the reruns anyway.

All in all, this neat little package of TV tunes is like comfort food that warms the body from the ears to the belly and then straight to the soul. Let's put it this way -- I always loved my mom's cooking and still do, but there was something about those Swanson frozen dinners and watching reruns of the "Flintstones" and "Gilligan's Island" as a child. Those are special memories. Pop this one in and just let it take you back, and then forward again through time.
