The record kicks off with "Bloom," the first single, and rocks hard right until the end. "You're Mine" is as catchy as it gets for these guys and the kind of tune that will have you hitting the repeat button on your CD player with the car windows rolled down. "Tell A Lie" shows hints of bands like INXS (lead singer Ken Cooper is a dead ringer for Michael Hutchens) and the Goo Goo Dolls, and overall Sinomatic has taken influences of several bands from the past three decades and produced a great rock & roll album with a modern twist. The closest song to a ballad on this disc is "Girlfriend," which to me has the best potential for crossover onto the pop charts. While the latter tracks on this release tend to sound similar and lose this listener's attention, it wakes up again with another potential single, entitled "One Life." Make no mistake, this is a fine debut and one worth adding to your collection. Don't forget to roll down your windows. ~Mike Farley |
